Good grief last time I looked it was 07/02/2011 and it's BST already. Sorry for keeping all you bloggees waiting and I hope this will be worth the wait!
The last month has been a bit of a wipeout to be honest, well that's not being honest at all. It's been a complete wipeout. I had two drawn out colds in quick succession which pushed my BG through the roof as well as Paddys Day to contend with. Not only does your liver pump out glycogen when you are ill but your (ok well my) desire for all things sugary and carb laden goes skyward. The colds also kept me from the gym too.
But not all is lost, horrah! I've only regained some of the weight I had lost and more importantly I'm now putting it behind me and getting back on the low carb diabetes bustin' band wagon.
Breakfasts are my biggest problem. Now that my boss has decided I must go into the office everyday it means no easy bacon and eggs when I get up. Why's that? I hear you cry. Well I take levothyroxine for an underactive thyriod as soon as I wake up and I'm not supposed to eat or drink anything for an hour afterwards. This means I would need to get up 2 hours before leaving the house ... not impossible but highly unlikely in my experience.
In the back of my mind I know that a regular routine is going to be the key to my success but I've always struggled to live by the clock. But I'm going to give it a go. The alarm is set for the morning and I am going to try and cook a breakfast before I leave. Part of the routine is going to be a visit to the gym every evening after work, even if that visit just involves a sit in the steam room if I'm not feeling up to a mad session. Packing both my gym kit and swimming togs each night is going to be part of my 'new world order'.
I've also given up fat club (aka Slimming World) as a complete waste of time. All they want is bums on seats and cash out of pockets, they are not interested in personal achievements. At least I gave it a try.
Anyway I must go ... steak, mushrooms and tomatoes await :)
